About

I’m Tom, a solutions architect from the UK. My working life is spent on secure digital transformation - the business of moving organisations onto better, more secure foundations without breaking what already works.

Away from work I run Linux everywhere I can, mostly NixOS these days, and I enjoy the kind of tinkering that ends with a machine rebuilt from a single Git repo. Free and open source software, self-hosting and cyber security are the threads that run through most of it.

This site is where I write that up. The posts are the notes I wish I’d been able to find when I was working something out for the first time, so if one of them saves you an evening, it has done its job.

My code lives on GitHub, including megadots, the NixOS configuration that runs my machines, and austere, the theme this site is built on.
